Dr Mirsad Begic is a Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist with extensive experience working with children, families, adolescents and young adults. He holds a senior role in the clinical leadership team for the district health board and sits on a variety of committees for the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatry. Dr Mirsad is passionate about providing excellent care for young people and helping them to successfully navigate through their struggles and get back on track.
Dr Mirsad's extensive experience in child & adolescent psychiatry includes specialist assessment and treatment of young people with eating disorders, adolescents experiencing emotional extremes, and all forms of Anxiety, Depression, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. He has experience working with all neuro-developmental disorders with a particular interest in ADHD.
Dr Mirsad completed his medical degree in South Africa and specialised in Psychiatry in New Zealand (RANZCP Fellowship). He additionally obtained the subspeciality Certificate in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry and is currently the Director of Training for this Certificate.
Dr Mirsad has worked in child & adolescent community mental health teams throughout NZ, as well as inpatient and regional mental health teams. He provides exceptional care in psychiatric assessment and treatment, using current best practice principles and evidence based medicine.
Dr Mirsad is highly skilled in working compassionately alongside others to achieve the best outcome and using a partnership based approach.
