Parent and Family Support

Parenting a child or teen who's struggling - whether with big emotions, a new diagnosis, behavioural challenges, or family conflict - can be overwhelming. Our Parent Support service gives you a dedicated space to be heard, get practical guidance, and feel more confident and equipped at home.

Sessions can focus on:

  • Understanding your child's diagnosis or presenting concerns and what it means day-to-day
  • Practical strategies for communication, boundaries and behaviour management
  • Navigating conflict, transitions or change within the family
  • Looking after your own wellbeing as a parent or caregiver
  • Coordinating care between home, school and your child's other clinicians

Family based approaches are also available to support individuals and the entire whānau, including Narrative Family Therapy and Systemic Family Therapy, when whole-family sessions are the right fit.

Parent Support can run alongside your child's own therapy or assessment, or as a stand-alone service if you're the one who needs support right now.
